I have suffered with chronic tonsillitis nearly all my life, and when I was twenty five years old, I was advised by an NHS specialist that an operation to remove my tonsills was the only solution. I was not keen to have an operation, and consulted you in the hope of finding a non-surgical solution. You found that I had become intolerant to milk and that my body and immune system were generally functioning in a poor way. After two, three week courses of treatment, the tonsillitis hasn't returned, and that was two years ago. However, perhaps a less obvious benefit was a huge increase in energy levels, a far stronger immune system and a better understanding of my own body and how to help avoid illness.
(Footnote. he was intolerant to milk and toxic due to over exposure to petro-chemical fumes from a petrol powered lawn mower that he frequently walked behind.)
ARM FRACTURE THAT WAS NOT HEALING IN A TWENTY SIX YEAR OLD RUGGER PLAYER
(The letter continues)
The second occasion I visited Dr. Bourne for help was because of a broken arm, sustained playing rugby that had been plated but was refusing to knit back together. He found with Vegatesting, that my body was in a very negative state as a result of the general anesthetic. In particular, my kidneys and liver needed help. He also prescribed systemic enzyme therapy to help break down the fibrosis around the fracture area, and additional treatment to get my body functioning properly again. Once again, the increase in energy was very noticeable, and the next x-ray showed that knitting of the bones was at last starting to take place.
I have recommended Dr Bourne to several friends and all have been pleased with the results they have experienced.

LONG STANDING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS IN A FIFTY EIGHT YEAR OLD MAN
Dear Dr. Bourne,
I am a multiple sclerosis sufferer and have been attending a multiple sclerosis treatment centre for fifteen years. Even though I have had a lot of treatment there, my disability got progressively worse, and when I first consulted you about a year ago, I often had difficulty even getting from the front door of my house to the car because of dragging feet. I also suffered with unstoppable twitching of my feet and legs. After coming to your clinic once a month for about a year, I can now regularly attend a gym and walk a quarter of a mile without stopping. Furthermore, the painful cramps and twitchings in my legs and feet are ninety five per cent improved. I feel a great deal better overall with much improved energy levels and I am recommending your clinic to friends with health problems.

(Footnote. He had multiple problems that needed to be treated in the right order.)
THE FOLLOWING CASE HISTORIES ARE FROM MY NHS GENERAL PRACTICE PATIENTS.
(It is worth mentioning, that a high proportion of health problems cannot be neatly pigeon holed into tidy conventional diagnoses. For example, food sensitivity can cause headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, bladder problems, skin problems and joint pains. Mercury poisoning from 'silver' amalgam dental fillings can lead to many apparently unrelated health problems including kidney and neurological disease.)
LADY FLORIST WITH HAND DERMATITIS
A lady florist has had peeling dermatitis on her hands for over a year. She had spent a lot of money 'on 'treatment creams', but nothing eased the problem'. With vegatesting, she was diagnosed as having a an allergy to chromium in wire that she used in her work as a florist. After only ten days of wearing protective gloves and taking selected homoeopathy for chromium sensitivity, she made 'a one hundred per cent improvement'. She wrote, 'I think it is a more natural way to treat patients and far quicker than normal N.H.S. methods'.
BABY WITH COW'S MILK INTOLERANCE
The mother said that from infancy, her one year old baby had been overactive, always screaming, frequently vomiting and suffering with painful colic. With vegatesting, the baby was shown to be sensitive to cow's milk. After three days on a soy based milk substitute, there was a one hundred per cent improvement. At follow up a year later, the mother reported, 'I kept the baby on a soy drink for the following nine months and avoided food with milk products. Dr. Bourne then retested the baby, and found no milk allergy. I have since returned milk to her diet, and I am very happy to say that no symptoms have returned. In her OVERALL IMPRESSION, she wrote, 'I am extremely grateful to Dr. Bourne for the way he took care of my baby. His vegatesting machine enabled him to detect the problem at a very early age, and I can never thank him enough for this.
(Footnote. For additional information on food sensitivity, please refer to the section on allergy and clinical ecology.)
LADY WITH DERMATITIS AND HOT FLUSHES
A thirty eight year old patient had suffered with headaches, tiredness, itchy skin and hot flushes for about two years. Conventional hormone replacement therapy had not helped. She was found to be sensitive to cheese and chocolate, which were excluded from her diet. She was prescribed natural progesterone cream together with selected complex homoeopathy for the menopause. After four weeks treatment, she reported that 'she was very pleased at the way it has all improved'. She stated that she tried eating cheese, but that this gave her a migraine.
LADY WITH BLINDING HEADACHES
A thirty two year old patient had had blinding headaches for about three months. Taking Nurofen helped, but made her feel sick. With vegatesting, she was found to be intolerant to coffee and chocolate. 'After 2-3 days without coffee or chocolate, the headaches had almost stopped. In her report, she stated, 'I tried coffee again after about three weeks, and had a headache after about three hours. Cutting out coffee and chocolate (to a certain extent) have helped greatly'.
MALE PATIENT WITH PROSTATIS
A thirty nine year old patient had had prostatitis for about three months. Antibiotics had not helped. He was treated with selected complex homoeopathy for prostatitis. He was also found to be sensitive to chocolate, onions, cheese and white bread, which were excluded from his diet. After two days, there was a significant improvement in symptoms, and he had no recurrences. His overall impression was that the treatment was 'excellent'.
LADY WITH A LONG HISTORY OF 'SERIOUS ECZEMA'
A thirty two year old lady had had 'serious eczema' since infancy. Her condition was no longer responding to conventional cortisone creams, and even four years attendance at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital had not helped. Her symptoms 'improved fifty per cent in less than a week ' with selected complex homoeopathy to improve her resistance to a chronic underlying fungus infection. Three months later the improvement had been sustained even without ongoing treatment. In her report she wrote, 'If noticeable improvements can be seen in seven days, then complementary medicine should be considered as an aid to conventional medicine'.
(Footnote. Unfortunately, conventional medicine is controlled by pharmaceutical companies, who have vested interests in keeping people ill. Dr. John Millward elaborates on the accumulated evidence against conventional medicine and the pharmaceutical industry in his excellent book: The Treason Within, ISBN 09542968-9)
LADY WITH JOINT PAIN ASSOCIATED WITH CHOCOLATE SENSITIVITY
A seventy five year old lady had had continuous shoulder pain and intermittent pains in her knuckles and back for a few weeks. With vegatesting, she was found to be sensitive to chocolate. She reported a one hundred per cent improvement about four weeks after excluding chocolate from her diet She wrote in a three month follow up report, 'The symptoms have not returned and I haven't tried chocolate again, but I am still taking cod liver oil'. Under the heading, OVERALL IMPRESSION, she wrote, 'OVERJOYED'. '
LADY WITH MULTIPLE SYMPTOMS AND INTOLERANCE TO MILK AND ONION
A seventy year old lady complained of a six week history of excessive salivation, pains in her chest and back, abdominal flatulence, night sweats and slight trembling at times. Vegatesting showed that she was sensitive to milk and onions, which she excluded from her diet. As a result, she reported a 'one hundred per cent improvement in her symptoms, except for the slight trembling at times' At three month follow up, she confessed, 'the improvement lasted ten days, until I ate some cheese and onion pickle sandwiches, when all the symptoms returned in full. There has been no trouble since then'. Under OVERALL IMPRESSION, she wrote, 'Dr. Bourne was spot on with the vegatesting examination, and I was very impressed with his diagnosis of my symptoms. A really dedicated G.P.!'
BOY WITH FOOT DERMATITIS
A six year old boy had a six month history of cracked dry bleeding skin on the soles of both his feet. Application of a conventional steroid/antifungal cream helped , but did not provide a permanent cure. With vegatesting, he was found to be sensitive to polyester socks and to his trainers. Wearing cotton socks and leather shoes resulted in a one hundred per cent improvement after only three weeks. There had been no relapse at one year follow up.
LADY WITH IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME AND CHRONIC CYSTITIS
A seventy three year old lady had a twenty year history of 'painful indigestion, abdominal bloating, continual painful infection of the bladder, bad headaches and constant fungus infection of the feet.' With vegatesting, she was found to be sensitive to milk, citrus fruit, Allbran, potatoes, tea, coffee and tartrazine (yellow food colorant). Selected medication included aloe vera, probiotics (acidophilus type preparation), and digestive enzymes. On this regimen, she reported a significant reduction in symptoms and sleep improvement in only twelve hours. She substituted porridge for Allbran. In her report, she wrote, 'the most noticeable change I've noticed since I've changed my eating habits is that I no longer suffer from the acute pain in the bladder. She also pointed out that the only dietary advice given to her by a hospital gastro-enterologist was to eat extra wheat bran flakes for breakfast.
(Footnote. Orthodox doctors are taught that added fibre, taken as wheat bran, is indicated in the management of irritable bowel syndrome. In orthodox medicine she would fruitlessly have been seen by a neurologist for her headaches, by a gastro-enterologist for her abdominal bloating and by a dermatologist for her skin trouble. When her symptoms persisted, she would have been perceived as neurotic and referred to a psychiatrist, who would, in all likelihood, have prescribed antidepressants.)
